It was so lovely to meet Leo Sayer just before his show at the Civic Hall. Who remembers all those iconic songs? Everyone had a wonderful time at his concert on Thursday 26th July and it looks as though he will return next year.

***New Class Alert***Legs Bums and Tums now up and running
Wow ! What a great turn out at our launch night for the new Legs Bums and Tums class. The class is now up and running every Tuesday evening 6.30pm – 7.15pm Civic Hall, Cottingham. This ever popular class seems to have made a comeback? Really popular with women as it’s concentrates on all those problem areas we all like to complain about. Helen is the instructor at the class and I will be covering from time to time. Helen is a very experienced, brilliant Instructor and will give modifications throughout the class. The feedback about the class has been amazing, why not give it a try?

Thank you Hender and I look forward to the next training day x
Well done Fever Fitness Army!
Well done to all the ladies at Fever Fitness for “Zumbarring” the whole of the 5k at the Scarborough North Bay race for life event on Wednesday 11th July. You should all be very proud of yourself as it’s not an easy thing to do! I always enjoy helping at this event with you all. As expected we did not have as many spectators this year due to the England game, but we all still enjoyed it. Great that the event team let us watch the last crutial half hour of the match in their tent! Well done to Debs Horsham Batley for organising such great event as always x Also thanks to Carol Boyes for help with the fabulous outfits, and Jo Harness for the use of the beach chalet. Let’s hope you all raise loads of cash for this worthwhile cause x
Fabulous wellness day with Donna Giffen
Fabulous wellness day with the amazing Donna Giffen on Sunday 1st July. The day started with a yoga session and then went into a workshop “unleash your personnel power” which was very thought provoking. Our afternoon session contained more workshops, with mood boards, mindfulness tips and meditation tips. The final part of the day was a brilliant Zumba master class with Donna. I was lucky enough to spend some time with Donna the night before. She is a wonderful, inspiring person. If you ever get chance to attend one of her wellness days, I would highly recommend it. Well done to Debs Horsham-Batley who organised the whole weekend. Debs used the wellness day as a fund raiser to go towards the final figure she is raising for the Fever Fitness race for life event . Brilliant event as ever Debs!! Let’s hope you raise loads of cash for such a worthwhile cause x

New Legs, Bums and Tums class for the Summer months
I am making some slight changes to our weekly schedule during the summer months of July and August. There will be a Legs Bums and Tums class running every Tuesday evening at Civic Hall 6.30pm – 7.15pm. The class is a whole body workout targeting all the problem areas. We will be using dynabands, hand weights and mats for the floorwork. I will just be running the Wednesday evening Fitsteps class once every 4 weeks during July and August. I fully intend to bring Fitsteps back regularly every Wednesday evening once the Strictly Season is back on the TV in September. Please note our Friday morning Fitsteps class is running as usual every Friday morning 10.30am – 11.15am Civic Hall, Cottingham.

Good Luck England!
With the world cup in mind we will be doing a few Football tracks in our Zumba classes. There is actually an official Zumba track being used featuring Pit Bull and Gente Di Zona. I am in the process of trying to get hold of some England flags to get us all in the spirit of the world cup. Good luck to the three lions!!
Wellness Day Event with the amazing Donna Giffen
I am really looking forward to the Mindfulness Day at Scarborough with Donna Giffen on the 1st July hosted by my dear friend and fellow Instructor Debs Horsham-Batley. Tickets are selling fast so grab yourself one fast!
In the meantime, why not have a go at this really simple Mindfulness Exercise and see what you think:
You can stand or sit. If you can sit in the meditation (lotus) position that would be great. Start by breathing in and out slowly. One breath cycle should last 6 seconds. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth, letting your breath flow effortlessly in and out of your body. Let go of your thoughts. Let go of things you have to do later today or pending projects that need your attention. Simply let thoughts rise and fall of their own accord and be at one with your breath. Purposefully watch your breath, focusing your sense of awareness on its pathway as it enters your body and fills you with life. Then watch with your awareness as it works its way up and out of your mouth and its energy dissipates into the world.
If you are someone who thought they’d never be able to meditate, guess what? You are half way there already!
